Action Shooting Procedures
R.O. will ask the shooter; "Do you understand the course of fire?" This is your opportunity to ask any questions about the stage.
If there are no questions the R.O. will inform the shooter; "You may load and make ready." WITH THEIR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER, the shooter may take sight image, load the firearm then make it safe and stand ready.
After the shooter has readied his firearm the R.O. will ask; “Is the shooter ready?"
Once the shooter confirms ready a random start timer will activate a buzzer in 2 to 5 seconds. At the signal the shooter will engage the first target and all remaining targets specified for the stage or course of fire.
During the stage he R.O. may call a "Cease Fire" for a safety violation or weapon failure; the shooter will immediately cease ALL actions and wait for instructions from the R.O.
Upon completion of the course of fire the R.O. will instruct the shooter to “Show Clear".
Shooters will remove any magazine, eject any loaded round from the chamber and/or magazine and display the empty chamber to the RO. The R.O. will instruct the Shooter to close the action and release the hammer/trigger or place on safe
Once the shooter has safely cleared their firearm the R.O. will announce, “The Line is Safe” ![]() Air Rifle Practice
